 Gloucestershire Deaf Association is very proud of its Community Centre. Our turn-of-the-century characterful building, the old Barnwood Primary School, has in the past two years been fully refurbished to offer attractive, friendly, and well equipped facilities, as well as easy on-site parking. It's also just a minute or two's walk from the nearest bus stop.
We have three different rooms and each has its own appeal, so whether you are looking for an exercise studio, meeting room, training facility or a lovely space for a party, you are invited to come along and see what is on offer.
The building includes the following:
MAIN HALL and ADJOINING KITCHEN
Our large Main Hall has capacity for up to 80 people seated, or 100 standing. Its high beamed ceiling is a very attractive feature. At one end of the Hall is a Bar, and half-way down a fully modernised adjoining kitchen. The Hall is a very flexible space, that is used for private parties - sometimes making use of the easy-set-up Skittle Alley, christenings, and occasionally wedding receptions. During daytime its main use is as a training and conference facility, and in early 2011 we had installed a state-of-the-art audio visual system with an electronically managed large screen. The Hall is equipped with a hearing loop.
WESTGATE LOUNGE
Westgate Lounge is a large square-shaped room off the Main Hall with capacity for around 25 people. It is equipped with its own hearing loop system and makes for a very good meeting or training room. There is also computer access with wireless internet connection.
 THE RUBY ROOM
The Ruby Room makes for an excellent exercise studio. It is square shaped, with wooden flooring and one wall fully mirrored. If used as a dance/exercise space it has capacity for around 15-20 people. However it is also popular as a meeting room for its very pleasant ambience. There is no fixed hearing loop system in The Ruby Room, but GDA can provide a portable loop if required.
