| A fundraising Safari Supper in June, organised by GDA trustee Jackie Gloyn, raised more than £1,000 in aid of the charity's new Cirencester Deaf Children's Club.
The event was well supported by Soroptimists from Cirencester, Swindon and Newbury and other trustees and friends from GDA were also present to enjoy a great evening of food and friends.
Each guest or guest couple travelled a short distance between courses, so for their starter, main meal and dessert they had a new host and hostess and different dining companions. Finally everyone came together for coffee, Irish coffee and mints before heading home.
Part of the money raised at the Safari Super will go towards a joint coach trip outing later in the summer for Cirencester Deaf Children's Club (CDCC) and also GDA's Gloucester-based children's Club GDKZ, and Gloucestershire Deaf Youth Zone (GDYZ).
Cirencester Deaf Children's Club (CDCC) meets the first Saturday of every month, 10.30am to 12 noon, at the Youth Opportunity Group in Beeches Road, Cirencester.
Gloucestershire Deaf Kids Zone (GDKZ) meets one Saturday morning per month, 10.30am to 12 noon, at Gloucestershire Deaf Community Centre, Colin Road, Gloucester.
Children 0-8 years of age, with any level of hearing impairment, are welcome to attend with hearing siblings within the same age range, accompanied by a parent or carer. |
