| This year's GDA Fundraising Fete on Saturday June 11th is one we will remember for the rain. The fact that the charity, despite the wash-out, managed to raise over £1800 after expenses is a tribute to the amazing team spirit of staff, trustees and volunteers.
It all started so well. The weather forecast hinted at the chance of a light shower, nothing more. It was gloriously sunny and warm in the morning, and for the first hour and a half after the gates opened to visitors.
But then the dark clouds gathered and in the space of what seemed just a few minutes, the rain was coming down so hard and fast that the car park was in danger of flooding. And it didn't stop for the rest of the day.
This year GDA had more stalls and activities than ever before and the charity was on course to bring in a record amount of funds to support our services and community activities. It wasn't to be, but what we didn't make in income, our visitors and helpers certainly made up for in good spirits.
A huge thank you to everyone. And fingers crossed for next time!
