At a recent visit to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge, Gloucestershire Deaf Youth Zone (GDYZ) enjoyed a hands-on experience.
Although Slimbridge is famous for its birds, the group learned all about the mammals who live there as well. 'Old Sam', the beaver, would not come out of his house, and neither would the water vole, but the two otters were hungry and, in exchange for fish, gave everyone a lovely swimming display.
Members of GDYZ also stroked a tiny harvest mouse and held a salamander and a tree frog. The evening ended with a session of feeding the geese and swans.
Thanks to John and Sue for a super evening.
