A huge thank you to customers of Waitrose in Cirencester who raised a staggering £646 for Cirencester Deaf Children's Club in November 2011.
Waitrose pledges £1,000 to three local causes each month, giving customers the chance to vote with tokens as to how big a share of the total amount each charity will get. The charities are allowed to write up to 150 words to persuade customers to their cause, but no photos. You can imagine our delight when we learned that Cirencester Deaf Children's Club had made such an impression that the store had to empty our token carton half way through because it had become so full! In the end CDCC was awarded £646 of the total £1,000, with the other two charities raising £183 and £171.
The money for CDCC will be used directly to enhance the activities and trips in 2012 for hearing impaired children from the whole of Gloucestershire who attend the Deaf Children's Club with their families. |
